About the role Roku seeks a talented, well-rounded Product Design intern who can craft easy-to-use and delightful product experiences at the intersection of 10' UI and hardware devices, like remote controls, that create a fantastic Roku entertainment experience.In this role, you will have the opportunity to work directly with a senior UX product designer.
For California Only - The estimated annual salary for this position is between $28 -55 per hour. Compensation packages are based on factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, certifications, and specific geographical location. What you'll be doing - Contribute to revolutionizing the Roku players and remote control experiences by considering software and hardware designs from the ground up.
- Design holistically to create a cohesive and coherent product experience.
- Communicate the user experience at various stages of the design process with wireframes, flow diagrams, storyboards, mockups, specs, and lightweight prototypes.
- Balance qualitative and quantitative data to make user-centered design decisions.
- Work closely with Product Managers to identify the problems and business goals that your designs will address.
- Utilize user journeys to help guide and frame your design approaches.
- Partner with strong User Researchers to determine and execute the ideal research methodology to evaluate your designs.
- Own your designs and communicate effectively, articulating your design decisions to colleagues from diverse disciplines.
- Give and receive feedback in regular design critiques with your peers.
- Work in Figma to create OS components for use by the UX Design Team
- Work closely with the UX Design Team to ensure best Design System practices.
- Work with the Design Systems team on at least one Roku OS product feature.
- Learn about what it means to work on a hardware platform.
We are excited if you have - Hands-on experience working with Figma
- Familiarity with Design Systems
- Meticulous attention to detail
- Hands-on experience working with User Researchers (or conducting User Research yourself) and utilizing the results of that research to shape your designs
- Familiarity with industrial design
- Obtained or working toward a relevant degree (Interaction Design, Human Factors, Graphic Design, Industrial Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology, Computer Science, etc....)
