Description:

The Design and Production Assistant works in the Creative department Warehouse & Design Center in Braddock, PA , providing hands-on support to the creative team year round.

This detail-oriented individual has warehouse/laborer experience, is handy with building things and experienced with hand tools and also has the creative experience and skills to replicate existing display designs and can maintain motivation with repetitive processes. This position is cross-trained in multiple roles across the creative department, able to assist with creating replica plants and props when needed and in multiple locations.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

1. Collaborates with Creative Department Manager to direct all aspects of warehouse production.
2. Checks in shipments: receive, unpack, sort, and organize décor.
3. Under supervision of Creative Department Manager, produces jobs from holiday production ticket, pulling materials (picks, ornaments, trees, etc.) and following specifications to create and design product.
4. Fluffs, bags, and labels outgoing decor and material for installation.
5. Inventories existing product. Uses expectations of product quality to check, sort, classify, and organize product.
6. Assists Creative Department coworkers in pulling decorations, displays and props to fulfill customer orders.
7. During take-down, organizes materials for storage at warehouse. Sorts through product and assesses the quality for next season.
8. Serves as a designer and quality control on site during Holiday Installation where required.
9. Directs other team members assisting in the warehouse, troubleshooting problems and coordinating production of jobs.
10. Serves as a creative worker in the Holiday warehouse. Replicates existing designs and is capable of producing new designs.
11. Assists with physical creation of new projects and refurbishment of current projects for sales under direction of Creative Department Manager in association with Design Center Manager.
12. Performs work safely, complying with company and industry safety standards; attends trainings including ladder safety and lift certification.
13. Under supervision of Creative Department Manager, will be cross-trained in other production roles in order to ensure timely job completion.

Pay Range:

$19.00 - $21.00 DOE

• High School Diploma or GED required;
• Three (3) months related display design and creative experience or training required.
• Basic reading, writing and math skills.
• Collaborative, team-focused work ethic; professional communication skills
• Self-motivated and reliable; ability to work independently and solve problems.
• Flexibility and adaptability to adjust to changing demands
• Learning mindset; openness to new ideas
• Detail oriented; able to replicate existing designs
• Skills in artistry and design required; knowledge of products, product placement, product handling, and concepts of good design desired.
• Ability to multi-task and stay organized to meet deadlines
• Basic computer skills in Microsoft office suite and ability to learn additional computer programs.
• Valid Driver’s license and clean driving record. Ability to drive company vehicles.
• Reliable transportation and availability to work shifts as scheduled, often 6 am-2:30 pm; will work occasional overtime including peak season (expected to be October, November, January). Approximately 70% of time will be spent at Holiday Warehouse in Braddock, PA and 30% of time in Strip District headquarters in Pittsburgh.
• Forklift operator experience preferred but not required; will be required to pass forklift training and certification.
• Job offer will be contingent on a pre-employment drug test and satisfactory physical examination to determine physical ability to perform the duties of the position

Physical Requirements

This position requires constant movement and being on your feet for 90% of the day. This position frequently moves about the warehouse and regularly moves through tight spaces. This position frequently ascends and descends ladders. This position frequently lifts and moves up to 30 pounds and regularly lifts and moves weight up to 50 pounds. This position occasionally pushes and loads large carts. This position requires color vision and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

This job requires employee to work regularly in humid conditions. This position is constantly exposed to common allergens such as dust and mold. This position will be exposed to fluctuations of temperature including extreme cold and extreme heat. The work environment may include occasional loud noise.
