Job Overview ERM is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Consulting Associate, Environmental Geology/Science/Engineering to join our team in Chicago, IL . The role involves working on site investigation, remediation, and hazardous waste management projects across the Great Lakes Northeast Business Unit, with potential opportunities for travel nationwide and globally. This position offers the chance to collaborate with ERM's technical experts and gain experience in investigation and remediation technologies, paving the way for professional registration. Responsibilities Conduct field work: soil, sediment, groundwater, surface water sampling, aquifer testing, drilling oversight, soil logging, well installation, development, purging, sampling, and construction oversight. Coordinate and oversee drilling, surveying, and laboratory services. Provide construction oversight on environmental remediation projects and operate remediation systems. Compile and analyze environmental data: soil, groundwater, air, sediment. Assist in preparing reports for regulatory agencies. Review groundwater chemistry data and create supporting figures/exhibits. Perform Phase I and II environmental site assessments for property transactions. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Manage work within quality, budget, schedule, and scope expectations. Communicate effectively with subcontractors, regulators, tenants, and clients during field activities. Minimum Requirements BSc in geology, hydrogeology, environmental science, or environmental engineering, or equivalent 6+ years related experience. Recent graduate to 2 years of experience, with willingness to undertake field assignments. Ability to work independently and collaboratively. Strong written and verbal communication, organization, and analytical skills; experience in detailed technical reporting. Ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced consulting environment, meeting deadlines. Detail-oriented with mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills. Environmental field experience and 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification are advantages. Willingness to travel regionally up to 75%, with overnight stays; 25% office work. Valid driver’s license and ability to operate a company vehicle due to travel requirements. Salary range: $65,600 – $71,953 annually, based on experience and other factors.
